Congratulations to Peraves for winning the X-prize competition $2.5 Million prize. Peraves will be in Washington DC to receive the award and for the celebration party on Sept 16th 2010. Incredibly they not only had the best fuel economy (barely beating L-ion) but their acceleration and performance was well above all others in all classes. The X-tracers finished 1st and 2nd in their class. The X-tracer can get more than 200MPGe and can go more than 150 mph. The butterfly and swan story describes the winning strategy:

At the end of June, I attended the X-prize competition in Michigan. My friend Dan Whitfield drove his Ecomobile from North Caroline and picked me up at the Detroit airport and chauffered me to the track/hotel for the 2 day visit. We were supporting the Peraves Team from Switzerland who entered 2 E-Tracers: electric versions of the Monotracer/Ecomobile. The X-Prize goal is to inspire a new generation of viable, safe, affordable and super fuel efficient vehicles that people want to buy. The $10 Million dollar prize will be awarded on 16 Sept 2010, with $5 Million going to Team Edison for the 4 passenger title they won using a gasoline powered ultra light vehicle. $2.5 Million dollar prize for the 2 person Tandem class the E-Tracer competes in. The 2-passenger side - by - side class was in a 5 way tie last I checked, so I am not yet sure who won the remaining $2.5 million.
